Last week despite being down 14 points with less than 8 minutes to go on the road against a tough Houston team the Pirates rallied back to force overtime. Unfortunately they fell to the Cougars. Due to a weather delay the game didn’t start until almost 9:30 eastern time and the boys didn’t get home till mid morning on Sunday. They have a quick turn around as they host South Florida on Thursday night.
Lately the Pirate offense has been inconstant as they go from showing how dominate they can be, to struggling. This seems to change quarter by quarter as last week they scored 10 in the 1st and then were held scoreless till the 4th when they put up 14 in less than a minute.
Lately the defense has been the strength of the Pirates. In their last two games they have let up a total of 615 yards and 51 points. A fair amount of those points have been while defending a short field as well as 7 of them coming on a 98-yard kick return. Coach Harrell doesn’t seem to let the stats get him too happy considering the Pirates lost both of those games.
