Over the weekend the Pirate baseball team played their final out of conference weekend series, by sweeping George Mason and only allowing four runs in the process. With the three wins the Pirates improved to 16-1 at Clark-LeClair Stadium on the season and are now 16-1 in weekend games.

Friday night was just like any other with Pirate ace Trey Yasavage going 7 innings allowing 3 runs and walking away with his 4th win of the season in an 11-3 victory over George Mason. The Saturday game was lead by the Pirate pitching as Carter Spivey allowed just 1 run in 5 innings of work, then Wyatt Lunsford-Shenkman in his normal long relief fashion threw 3 scoreless innings before Landon Ginn finished the game off in his 1st appearance in a Pirate uniform in front of the 8th largest crowd in Clark-LeClair history of 5,542 in route to an 8-1 victory. On Sunday Josh Grosz topped them all. In a rained shortened 8 inning game Grosz threw a complete game shoutout allowing just 5 hits and 1 walk while throwing 97 pitches. The final was 5-0 and it was the 1st complete game shutout since Gavin Williams did it in a 7 inning game back on May 28th of 2021 vs Memphis in the AAC tournament.

With conference play on the horizon the Pirates are 19-5 overall and a perfect 15-0 when they hit at least one homerun. They have a midweek vs UNCW this week before conference play starts on Friday down in Houston. The out of conference weekend part of the schedule was a huge success now it’s time for the real part of the regular season and the Pirates go in to AAC play hot.
